Lacanau’s beaches extend as far as the eye can see, and each spot has its own distinctive characteristics. First-time surfers will enjoy the calmer beaches that are less exposed to powerful waves, such as the central beach. Reputable surf schools offer courses to help you learn the basics and get to grips with surfing in complete safety.

Lacanau’s northern beaches are often a favourite among more accomplished surfers because the swell is more consistent, ideal for thrill-packed surfing sessions. The most famous spots include “Le Lion”, “La Nord”, or “La Sud”, where surfing conditions can be excellent all year round.

BO and CO: discover the surf school

Bernard, seasoned surfer who has been instructing for a long time, will be really pleased to share their passion with you. The method they use means surfing becomes accessible to everyone, with gradual, personalised training provided by an experienced team of state-authorised instructors. The surf school also offers a range of packages designed to suit your level and your preferences, discover them directly on-site! As an introduction:

• 2 hour Surf Discovery package (1.5 hrs in water): €37 per person

For the perfect result:

• 3 days X 2 hrs: €100 per person
• 5 days X 2 hrs: €168 per person

Equipment hire and insurance included. All packages can be adapted to suit. The times of your lessons will be confirmed when you arrive at the surf school.
